NACOG EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES

In order to support and encourage the work of the Church and to edify and inspire our members, we have established the NACOG expanded educational offerings. These offerings will allow our members to interact with subject matter experts, to network and build peer-relationships, to enhance competencies and to connect our churches.   Three areas of study are available;

                                                                                          
NACOG Summits:  Enabling and encouraging operational/organizational excellence in ministry.
Certification Program:  Enabling and encouraging individual excellence in ministry.
Leadership Academy: Enabling and encouraging the next generation of leaders for the work of ministry.
 
 
NACOG Summits
(weekend seminars during campground expanded use days)
Church Planting/ Revitalization Summit
Coordinator: Patricia Turner                              
May 14-16, 2009
This course prepares the student to be the leader in a new church plant or the catalyst to the revitalization of a standing congregation. The instruction will focus on issues central to the planning and execution of a successful new church plant.
 
Bi-Vocational Pastors
Coordinators: Rev. Calvin Waddy, Jr.            
May 22-23, 2009
This course will focus on issues particularly important to Bi-vocational Pastors. The concerns and considerations unique to these Pastors will be explored in classroom instruction, shared insights and examination of common experiences/ best practices.
 
Church Council / Trustees Summit
Coordinators: Bishop Robert Davis
June 5-7, 2009
This course will focus on issues relating to Pastoral care and facilities management. Attention will be given to pastors health care packages, providing for retirement planning, asset management and facilities utilization. The concerns and considerations unique to church council members and trustees will be explored in classroom instruction, shared insights and examination of common experiences/ best practices.
 
Church Administrators/ Treasurers Summit
Coordinators: Rev. James Brown
September 25-27, 2009
This course examines best practices for financial and business operations of the church. The class will review the changing economic and legislative environment the church is facing. Also, we will review the Sarbanes Oxley act and its implications for financial reporting, compliance and its impact on maintaining non profit status.
 
Youth & Children’s Ministry Summit
Coordinators: Rev. Michael Thigpen       
October 2-4, 2009
Attendees will review and examine best practices and develop plans and goals for local ministry for their congregations in 2010.
This course will examine current challenges facing youth and children ministry and apply creative solutions to meet the needs and opportunities of ministry. 
 
Music Ministry Summit
Coordinators: Rev Leslie Barnes & Min. Tony Small
October 15-17, 2009
Attendees will build awareness and skill with using all styles and types of music working together to bring the congregation into the presence of God. Leading worship and inspiring personal devotion through music.
 
NACOG /Anderson University School of Theology 
Certificate Program
Dean of NACOG/SOT Certificate Program: 
Dr. Aleza Beverly   
Classes Start October 2009 – Ongoing
This 50 hour certification program, enables the student to receive continuing education units, complete a curriculum of 14 standard courses, and allows for greater flexibility through the option of having ISTI credits recognized in achieving the hours of completed study required to attain the Certificate of Ministry. Classes will be offered at a variety of locations throughout the year.
 
NACOG Leadership Academy
Dean of Leadership Academy: 
Dr. Kevin Early
Begins June 2009 /ends December 2009

This program will develop leadership skills and expose young people (ages 17-21) to the history, theology and operations of the National Association of the Church of God.  The young leaders will be instructed in the following areas:
♦ Principles of Servant Leadership
♦ Spiritual Formation
♦ Church History/Theolgy
♦ Church Organization/Operations
♦ Team Building/Conflict Resolution
♦ Financial Management, and an
♦ Auxiliary Internship
