Growing Older and the Promises of God

Let's face it, every day when we open our eyes, we're older than we were yesterday. Our Western culture is obsessed with cosmetics to diminish the natural aging process. People are willing to spend excessively on cosmetics to slow down biological aging. But what does the word of God have to say about this stage in our lives that we will experience if we continue to live?

The Word of God looks at age as a sign of experience. The Lord promises to love them and be an anchor in their lives. Isaiah 46:4 says, I will be your God throughout your lifetime. Until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you." Here is a listing of Bible verses to encourage you as God blesses and increases the number of your years on this earth:

1. 2 Corinthians 4:16

Therefore, we do not lose heart. Though outwardly, we are wasting away, yet inwardly, we are being renewed day by day.

2. Deuteronomy 32:7

Remember the days of old; consider the generations long past. Ask your father, and he will tell you, your elders, and they will explain to you.

3. Deuteronomy 34:7

Moses was 120 years old when he died, yet his eyes were not weak nor his strength gone.

4. Exodus 20:12

Honor your father and your mother so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.

5. Isaiah 40:29

He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.

6. Isaiah 40:31

But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not be weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Psalms 90:12

Teach us to number our days so that we gain a heart of wisdom.

Psalms 91:16

With long life, I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.

Proverbs 20:29

The glory of young men is their strength, gray hair, the splendor of the old.

Proverbs 23:22

Listen to your father, who gave you life, and do not despise your mother when she is old.
